Wings of the Dawn
Wings of the Dawn. A dove, a heart, and gold leaf where the sun comes up.
Pyrography on oak with gold leaf · Jah Russ
The title means Wings of the Dawn. The dove is opening up at first light, with the sun behind its head in gold leaf and a heart where its chest would be. Everything around it mirrors left to right, so the whole board sits balanced.
Oak has a strong grain, and it pushes back a little when you burn it. I let it show instead of covering it up. The dove is peace. It's the Spirit. Putting a heart at the center of it just made sense to me.
