Lion and Moon
A lion, a full moon, and everything else burned down to dark.
Pyrography on basswood · Jah Russ
This is one of the heaviest pieces I've done. The moon is bare basswood, and almost everything else is burned to deep char, so the lion is standing in the only light there is.
Burning that much takes a long time, and you have to know how far the wood will go before it stops giving. The lion still had to come through loud against all that dark.
